This is a very refreshing and healthy seafood salad recipe you can make in seconds. My mom used to make it in home, but I kind of forgot about it when I came to China. I remembered it thanks to my friend Zarina. She is from Kazakhstan and she was showing me this particular salad recipe last week. Actually, she likes to teach me many recipes from her country. Once, she made some kind of eggplant sandwich with mayonnaise and it was so delicious! But, back to our salad recipe for now. ![]()
All the ingredients are cut into small cubes and mixed together with mayonnaise. That’s it. The main ingredient is surimi. Now, what is surimi? Surimi is an orange-white like stick that is usually sold frozen. Surimi consists of fish meat, crab, lobster and other shellfish. Some people like to cook it a bit before eating, but you can usually eat it directly without any previous cooking. This makes it perfect to add to salads! There are many other surimi recipes, which I will post later on, so keep tuned!
Note:
The surimi sticks are wrapped in plastic paper, so you need to remove it before cutting them. I know it might sound obvious to some, but I thought it would be good to mention it.

Oooh! Quick and delicious! Looks very yummy! I’ll have to see if I can track down some surimi
Okay, I hope this isn’t a stupid question, but where do you get surimi and how is it packaged (frozen, in the meat section)? Thanks!! I would love to experiment with this stuff. It sounds tasty!
Yes, packaged and in the frozen section. I got mine near the seafood section, but some supermarkets put it near the frozen foods like sausages.
