Cooking with tofu is one of my favorites and I absolutely love any chinese recipes with shrimp. So, this chinese recipe with tofu AND shrimps is a total win-win for me. I was looking for some chinese tofu recipes when I came across this recipe on a chinese food website and decided to try it. The original recipe used clams, octopus and other seafoods as well, but I didn’t want to have so many things in my dish. Also, it used only oyster sauce and soy sauce. I wanted a dish that would have the maximum “shrimpy” taste, so I added some hoisin sauce with the oyster sauce and decided to use only shrimps as seafood. I hope you will all enjoy this chinese recipe with tofu and shrimps!
Note:
1. Hard tofu is always recommended for frying, especially for pan-frying. I like to coat my tofu pieces with some cornstarch powder (the white powder, used as thickening agent in soups) and cut my tofu pieces slightly thick. If you cut your tofu pieces too thin, they will become crispy inside-out and not so soft inside. I cut mine about 1.5cm thick, coat with some cornstarch powder and deep-fry or pan-fry. Deep-fry works faster. The cornstarch coating prevents the tofu from easily breaking.
2. Prepare your sauce in advance. Chinese cooking is a fast process, so you should have all your ingredients ready beforehand. It prevents panic during cooking too!

Hehehehee
another recipe that I’d love to try. I like hoisin, oyster, and soy sauce combo but can’t get the right portion to get the perfect taste. Keeping the recipe!
Thank you, Nami! Well, I like oyster sauce more, so I personally add a little bit more hehe
What a lovely stir-fry…. I love shrimps and tofu both so now I need to make this…. Delicious.
Thank you, Reem! I absolutely love shrimps and tofu too! I am glad you like it
Beautiful stir fry Cindy! I love how you can take pictures in the wok. Mine never come out crisp because of the steam or the movement.
I also love the simplicity of the sauce. This is totally something I could handle with my little guy in the kitchen!
Thanks, Jamie! You can try to take the pictures a little further from the wok, so the steam does not affect the pictures as much. Also, you can crop the picture later on.
But, I can understand you. Sometimes, there are some pictures that come blurry because of the steam and as you know, chinese cooking is such a fast process. So, you need to take the pictures fast or the food will not turn out as good.
Hehe, when you say “my little guy”, you mean your cute little son right? Or you mean, your husband?
WoW! Love this recipe my fav ingredients and simple and delicious! Gr8 JOB!
Need to cook it NoW!
Simple & nice. I change the shrimps with chicken.
My wife love the taste, Thanks.
